T&C’s Commitment to Security
Protecting the privacy and the security of our members’ personal and financial information is T&C Federal Credit Union’s number one priority when delivering services to our membership, and storing member information.

We will bring services to the World Wide Web only after we, our auditors and our third party security experts, are confident that the services are safe and secure. We also employ leading edge technology to protect information you submit to us, and information we send back to you using Home Banking and through our website.

Data Encryption/SSL
Information (including your password) you submit through our website and our home banking product is protected by SSL (secure sockets layer), which is of the strongest encryption technology commercially available. T&C’s SSL is supplied by VeriSign Inc., through a VeriSign certificate.

In a nutshell, SSL allows a secure connection between your web browser and a web server. This secure information ´tunnel´ was developed by Netscape Communications and was based on encryption algorithms developed by RSA Security. This means that if someone were eavesdropping, they would not be able to read the data. SSL is being widely adopted by numerous companies for other client/server uses other than web surfing.

When you come across a web page that is secured, your browser will likely display a ´closed lock´ or other symbol to inform you that SSL has been enabled. The web site address should also now start with "https://" rather than the usual "http://".

Please click on the VeriSign Inc. icon to review T&C Federal Credit Union’s Secure Site information.

T&C Web Site

T&C Home Banking

For maximum security, T&C recommends the following browsers with
128-Bit encryption be used when accessing our products.

Password Quality and Protection
T&C’s home banking passwords are among the safest. By forcing a lengthy, alpha numeric password to be used, we are ensuring that home banking passwords have low risk of being cracked. Password composition with both upper and lower case alphabetic characters, provide even stronger defense against password cracking programs.

Passwords are encrypted using SSL technology supplied by VeriSign Inc.

Termination of a Home Banking session will occur upon a fixed number inactive minutes of use.

Users are locked out of our Home Banking system upon the entry of a fixed number of incorrect password attempts.

Please review the
How Members Can Better Protect Their Information section to apply strong password protection to your account.

Physical Security
Our servers are housed in a state-of-the-art secure server room with access given only to authorized personnel. Access to the server room is electronically recorded and strict policies are in place to monitor all entries and exits. A gas generator backs up all of our servers, in the event the facility loses power.

All member and financial data stored at any T&C location, or on any T&C equipment is protected by lock and key, combination lock, or strict authentication processes. Only authorized T&C personnel has access to these locations and equipment.

Real Time Intrusion Detection
An intrusion detection system (IDS) inspects all inbound and outbound network activity and identifies suspicious patterns that may indicate a network or system attack from someone attempting to break into or compromise a system.

T&C uses “real-time” intrusion detection tools. These are tools that monitor our servers 24/7, and notify T&C personnel of any suspicious or abnormal occurrences with our servers or network. With real-time intrusion detection tools, we are able to respond immediately to suspicious attacks.

Security Audits and Assessments
Independent third party reviews and assessments of all of our computing operations are performed frequently. These reviews and assessments include website penetration and vulnerability testing, reviews of the physical security of our equipment and data, password policies, log policies, employee security awareness, access control to our systems and data, and policy enforcement. Reviews and assessments are performed by our governing body, the National Credit Union Administration, and independent third party companies hired by T&C. In addition, frequent internal audits are performed in these areas.

Online Privacy Statement
T&C is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of our members and potential members when you are using or inquiring about our online products and services. We use secure technology and privacy protection controls to safe guard your personal information.

When you use our home banking product, our system automatically gathers certain usage information. We use a technology nicknamed “cookies” that tells us how and when pages on our site are visited and by how many people. We use this data to help us determine how many visitors use different parts of the site so that we can focus on and improve certain areas of our website to make them easier and more helpful for our members and potential members to use. We do not collect personally identifiable information in our “cookies” that tell us who you are, or what your screen name or e-mail address is.

Other websites that you visit may have their own privacy policies or no policy at all. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of web sites before you provide them with any of your personal information.

REMEMBER, no one from the credit union will call you and ask you for your account number or password. NEVER reveal your password to anyone and use caution when giving out your account number online to make purchases. If you think you may have fallen for a scam and given out your password or PIN, sign-on to home banking and/or ADDY and change your password immediately.  Also contact T&C so that we may monitor your account for suspicious activity.

Your password should be easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess and you should change your password frequently.  Never use the same password for home banking as you use for other online accounts or services.

In an effort to help identify and avoid phishing scams, e-mail correspondence sent by T&C Federal Credit Union, to our members will contain the member's name.  While this does not guarantee the e-mail to be from T&C Federal Credit Union, if you do not see your name within an e-mail purporting to be from T&C Federal Credit Union, please disregard the e-mail and contact us immediately.

How Members Can Better Protect Their Information

  1. The security of your password depends on the password being kept secret. Do not write your password down, and always make sure nobody is standing behind you as you enter your password.
  2. Protect all of your passwords, PINS, account numbers, and plastic cards.
  3. Password composition with both upper and lower case alphabetic characters, provides stronger defense against password cracking programs.
  4. Select letters that do not create a common word but instead represent the first letter of each word in a favorite phrase, poem or song.
  5. After completing your Home Banking session, log off before you begin surfing other sites.
  6. Do not visit other websites during your Home Banking session. Always log off first.
  7. Log off unattended computers that have been used to access Home Banking, and invoke password protection within your screen savers.
  8. Do not send account information through e-mail. E-mail is not encrypted and can be eavesdropped upon.
  9. Review your account statements as soon as possible after receiving them. Contact us immediately if you find a discrepancy.
  10. Do not give out personal information such as account numbers or credit card numbers on the phone or over the Internet unless you have initiated the contact. Identity thieves could pose as a Financial Institution, Internet provider or credit card company representative. Remember: If someone has a right to this information (such as your credit union) they should already have it and shouldn’t need to request it over the phone.
  11. Keep your information with T&C current. If your address or phone number changes, please let us know as soon as possible. It is important that we have current information so we always know how to reach you. If we suspect fraudulent or unauthorized activity on your account, we will attempt to contact you immediately.
  12. Report lost or stolen checks immediately, and properly store cancelled checks. Examine new checks to be sure none were stolen during shipment, and store them in a safe and secure location.
  13. Destroy unused offers of credit before discarding them, and tear-up other financial documents such as statements or receipts before discarding them.
  14. Guard your Automated Teller Machine (ATM) PIN number. Never write your PIN number on anything you carry in your wallet. Treat your ATM receipts with care. Never leave them behind or throw them in the garbage without destroying them first.
  15. Promptly remove mail when it has been delivered. Identity thieves often raid mailboxes to obtain credit card offers and financial statements.
  16. Protect your Visa Card online with a personal password. Visit Verified by Visa.
  17. Contact the major credit reporting companies at least annually to review your file. A copy of your credit report is available for a small fee.
